So it's an old thread but I tried to look for prior discussion of this and could not find it off-hand. Recently license concern were brought up in Debian: https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2018/02/msg00031.html They seem to have changed the license with 1.05, using the LGPL as a template and then making some modifications. Problematic is likely the new section 15: | 15. If you modify the Library in any way whatsoever, the output from | any such modified Library may not be referred to as 'InChI' or any | similar name. Any attempt to refer to such output as 'InChI' will | automatically terminate your rights under this Licence. Not sure how relevant this is to OpenBabel, but I assume we modify InChi in order to integrate it? Also the LGPL-2.1 allows to relicense to GPL-2, which might be enough for OpenBabel as it might dodge the above section 15? On the other hand, I doubt the Inchi Trust thought about that and intended for this usage. Did somebody bring this up with the Inchi Trust?
