Thanks--I'll look into all of this. I believe if you put these settings under the advanced/initialization string field on the datasource form it will work but I haven't messed with that much yet.

The problem with using
"Other JDBC Driver" is that once you've added it,
you can't modify the hoststring again from
the administration console because it detects the
datasource as MySQL.

Ah--that's a bug then. I'm picking up the datasource type via the driver, so I'll rework that to flag it as "other" more explicitly for cases in which people are using a driver that's known to the admin console but they want to use the "other" config settings.

I'll keep you posted on this. Since we want to release soon, it may be that the "other" fix will have to suffice for now, but I'll see where I get on it.
