it's still rampant in the open source community, once you get a bad rep, it tends to stick. Postgres still suffers from being called slow, these days it's faster than mysql in a production environment. But the rumor persists. First impressions are often all you get, don't expect everyone to come back 2 years later after you were unable to impress and give you a new look, second chance.
