it's still rampant in the open source community, once you get a bad
rep, it tends to stick. Postgres still suffers from being called slow,
these days it's faster than mysql in a production environment. But the
rumor persists. First impressions are often all you get, don't expect
everyone to come back 2 years later after you were unable to impress
and give you a new look, second chance. When they say coldfusion is
slow they may be referring to a version 10 years old, but since they
don't specify.

everything proprietary is seen as buggy in foss. since bugs are often
ignored, swept under a rug, or even not seen (because we can't see the
source). Also proprietary often takes longer to release fixes.

so you have to dispel proprietary first. once people realize foss cfml
exists they may give it another chance, find it fast, dispelling that,
and start fixing bugs... fixing that. It all goes back to proprietary.

and yes my comments are generalized. take it with a grain of salt.

I never got anything back on the registration of freenode with
#regen2. login with the user you've registered (as official contact) /
msg chanserv register #openbd (or whatever channel) join the channel
op set the topic.
