No discussion of custom tag alternates would be complete without a mention of user defined functions; cfcomponent and cffunction.
I thought I read some pro or pundit postulating that the use of these (in typical object oriented fashion) would eventually render custom tags and cfmodule obsolete. That was just after CF6, when I would read this stuff in something we used to call a "magazine". Alan K.
