Given that this is your desktop, I'd say you're better off anyway having it self-contained and started/stoppped on your terms. What's interesting though is that I thought Crunchbang was a 100% compatible derivative of Ubuntu... especially since tomcat is gui'less. Oh well, it happens... I'm sure when you deploy to Ubuntu Server it'll be fine....
