Dear Alan, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, JSON is a great idea. I now have the OpenDB CFC returning the query as a JSON. However, when I use a CF8 client to DeserializeJSON (false flag) it creates a structure and not a query object. If I use the same code for the CFC on both a CF8 server and CF8 client, the DeserializeJSON does create a query object. When I look at a dump of the JSON between the CF and OpenBD CFCs they look identical -- however the getmetadata is different. Any idea what causes the difference between the JSON returned by the OpenBD and CF8 and why the CF8 client cannot convert the JSON from teh OpenDB to a CF query object?
