A few months back I completed a project for work which essentially created two A5 DPF documents that we then merged into a single A4 PDF document with one of the A5 ducuments rotated 180 degrees. This created a voucher which could be printed by customers that would be folded in half to make it look 'pretty'. This was later replaced with a cfc to create a single A4 PDF by writing to two A5 size templates with one rotated 180 and positioned on the document accordingly. If this will help in your quest I'll be quite happy to dig out the code.
