Well, you're the first to bring it up so I'm not sure skipping axis
labels is exactly in high demand. ;-)
for some folk it was very important and this type of graph seems common
enuf:
mrtg traffic
we use that for traffic graphing and site stats, hit rates, etc.
(there's 400 individual columns there, each a single pixel wide)
It was before some years back and we had to use a flash tool, SWF Charts:
