I love OpenBD/GAE. My only concern is that development doesn't happen fast enough to keep up with Google (understandably so I guess) - but last I used it, for example, there wasn't even the possibility for owned relationships in the datastore, and other similar features that have been there for a long time. I'm not sure if this has changed or not, but my general feeling is that to make full use of the GAE-specific functionality, I am better off using the Java classes they provide rather than the OpenBD integrations. I would like to feel more confident that I am getting the full feature set using the OpenBD integrations.
To answer the questions: 1/ Have you played with OpenBD on GAE? Yes, have had a a non-critical app running, and developed tons of test apps 2/ Did you find deployment of your CFML easy? Copy/paste, couldn't be easier. 3/ If you did deploy, have you outgrown your free quota? No, but haven't done anything serious. 4/ Did you have to modify your CFML app much first? I built my app for GAE, but I am sure a lot of changes would be needed for a migrated app. 5/ What could be made easier? Obsessive integration with GAE giving me the confidence to use the built-in OpenBD functionality to interact with all the pieces (especially datastore) -- Open BlueDragon Public Mailing List http://www.openbluedragon.org/ http://twitter.com/OpenBlueDragon online manual: http://www.openbluedragon.org/manual/ mailing list - http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en
