In response to a request from an OpenBD on GAE user, the latest
version of FW/1 now includes a cacheFileExists option to allow the
framework to cache calls to fileExists() so that the framework doesn't
have to hit the 'disk' during requests once any particular file has
been looked up (otherwise FW/1 makes quite a few fileExists() calls in
each request).

I'd be grateful if some GAE users could test the framework and see if
this helps - and report any bugs via
http://github.com/seancorfield/fw1 - thanx!
