We are using a high performance Java imaging library for some of our transpositions. So there will be some subtle differences.

I have to confess to being somewhat dismayed at what ACF did with this whole area -- in short they made a complete arse of it. The ImageXXX() functions should have been an object with methods (something we've all discussed here) but what most people don't realize, is that they have done ZERO innovation here. It is merely a thinly (and poor one at that at times) veil to the underlying native java functions.

I had thought they would be borrowing from their Adobe PhotoShop product suite and really done a number here. But no. They missed a major opportunity here.

We do have plans to bundle ImageMagick with OpenBD, and really offer a high performance imaging option ... the wonders of GPL permits us to embed this high powered alternative.
