Never mind, I understand what you're saying here. Basically in order to do this you'd have to configure Tomcat to allow linking (which should never be done on a windows system as it would allow the source code of whatever app you're running to be executed. This is not how the installer configures Tomcat by default, so this is not an issue unless you specifically configure Tomcat to allow links.

I think Matt may be right that we may need to add another path variable that the Administrator looks in for the logs, however, this wouldn't work if someone installed OpenBD to a non-default location, so the ideal solution would be a way for the administrator to know where to find the logs dynamically...

A quick/dirty workaround is to use links/junctions to make the actual log
folders accessible under WEB-INF - provided Tomcat allows that (may need
that attribute in the Tomact setup to allow that - which also opens a
security issue...)

| Subject: No Log files showing in administrator
|
| bit more info...
|
| this url http://www.openbluedragon.org/manual/?/engine_logfiles told me
| that the log files should be here normally: /WEB-INF/bluedragon/work/
|
| The only thing in the web-inf directory on my machine was web.xml
|
| I copied the files& directories from C:\openbd\bluedragon\work
| (current location of rte logs) to C:\openbd\tomcat\webapps\ROOT\WEB-
| INF\bluedragon\work and then admin console can see the copied rtelogs
|
| I then copied the files from C:\openbd\logs (location of bluedragon.log
| and directories that contains the other log files as described in url
| above) and the admin console can see those as well.
|
| So... in short, the admin console can now see some log files correctly
| but they are only copies.
|
| I have searched through files looking for likely ways of setting either
| where the admin console looks or the engine places the files but it is
| beyond me at the moment.
|
| Hope this helps.
