You do not have to restart the server if you are using a certificate
from a 3rd party validation service (Thwartes/Verisign etc).
If you wish to use your own certificate, then you do have to register it
with the underlying JVM.
You can do this by passing the name of your cert into the JVM parameters:
-Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=/path/to/cert/file
