That's exactly what they did for many of the new script-based
functionality, which is a lazy hack IMO.

I'm not sure that's the case, the whole thing just smells bad to me
regardless of any minor differences in performance, but I haven't tested
any of that so I can't say for sure if there's a performance impact and how
small or large it is.

You'd have to define "notable." Short answer is no, it's not notable enough
that you'd choose to write in script solely for speed purposes (if indeed
there is any difference at all).

Nothing specific to storeprocs but you could of course run the storedproc
from QueryRun() via SQL.
