Yes, all variables that are declared by a parent "including" template
should be exposed for use by included templates.
Perhaps the code which created your query is within a conditional statement?
Perhaps your query variable is lovingly nestled inside another scope
(like request. or application.)?
Perhaps your query is an empty result set? Does it have a .recordCount ?
