"See" where? You don't say where/when/what you're dumping to check. Have
you tried referring to the variable on a .cfm page to see if it's there?

As I said I'd have to test but I don't see why that wouldn't work since
Application.cfm is more appropriately thought of as OnRequestStart.cfm so
the net effect should be the same.

The "right" way to do it would be declare that variable as an application
variable and change your code accordingly, in which case this is irrelevant.
