Personally Id keep it simple. Machines have a single purpose and in that
way you isolate the tiers of your application. Otherwise imagine getting an
issue where you are hitting open file limits because you have too many
things competing for resource on the same machine.

If different tiers are on the same machine competing for resource it can
make troubleshooting troublesome. The only benefit of less mahones is is
cost IMHO.
