Firstly I never would pay much attention to opinions a most of the time its
more people's habits. But t the cfcommunity suffers from a lot of amateurs
that have read design patterns books or think that they should write CF
like java.

For me being consistent in your code is important and do what works for you
and or your team.

I would say cfinclude is fine if you perhaps use a namespace and an
alternative extension which indicates to the developer that it should not
be executed directly something like fn_helloWorld.inc

Your includes don't need to have .cfm extensions and will be parses in the
same way.
