Ok, I don't know what driver Railo has. It's just labeled mysql.jar. But I also tried the latest MySQL 5.1.22 connector with both OpenBD 2.0.2 and Nightly and they both do not work with MySQL 5.5 but do with MySQL 5.1.
I don't know how else to test it, or what else to provide to help get the issue resolved.
