In light of recent security concerns, we would like to get our Linux server
with Apache/Tomcat/OpenBD updated to the latest version of Java. Will I
have a problem doing so? This tutorial from Matt Woodward (last updated
May 2012)
https://docs.google.com/a/entsolutions.net/document/d/1emioVKgoeR_HkpFF-fd6MLrqTu-HxSLNmApY4lOSoH4/edit#

recommends installing Java 6 instead of 7 due to lack of support with
Tomcat 7, but that was a long time and several high-profile Java security
holes ago.

I tried looking up what version of Tomcat I am running by navigating to the
Tomcat bin folder and running "sh version.sh", but I got "Neither the
JAVA_HOME nor the JRE_HOME environment variable is defined. At least one of
these environment variable is needed to run this program". I am running
Openbd-1.4 from the "openbd-1.4-p10-linux-installer.run" bundle.

Please forgive my ignorance. I'm a PC guy by trade, trying to fumble my way
through Linux.
