You want a counter just to display code on a page or do you want to use this for something else? To just diplay code on a page there are several CSS/JavaScript version around. The OpenBD homepage is using such to diplay code.. for example on the NSIS instructions for the OpenBD.Local http://openbd.org/manual/?/local_nsis
