Good choice! Just use Jordan's installer and setup a complete stack. Or if you want to run the DB on a separate server you could use the Jetty version... More or less just unzip it, make sure you have Java installed an you're up and running
File manipulations just differs in. \ to / and yes. U might have to set the correct owner and acess rights on the folders depending on what you do with your app..
