The installation kernel is a ramdisk kernel, running in single user mode. This is a different kernel than the GENERIC kernel you installed, and you are running in multi-user mode, with more than one or two processes in operation, including active use of peripheral devices. (You may have installed a ramdisk kernel during your installation -- if you selected "bsd.rd" during install, you will find that file in your root directory. You can boot it instead of "bsd" if needed for rescue or maintenance.) As I mentioned, you may want to see what the i386 laptop database has to say about your make/model, if anything. To see if you can get suspend working properly, your laptop needs to support APM, and you will need to start the apmd daemon running. See the man page for apmd(8). Once you have completed testing, to enable apmd at startup, add something like: apmd_flags="" to /etc/rc.conf.local. The man page and your testing will help you determine what flags to add here, if any. _______________________________________________ Openbsd-newbies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.theapt.org/listinfo/openbsd-newbies
