  I'd absolutely pkg_add vim and then practise a bit with vimtutor. I
was a gui-man and since I tried vimtutor and read the man I just cannot
leave without vim: programming, latex (well, it's the same), email (via
mutt)... even reading pdfs :)

Let us know whether you have some other problems...

For installing kde, try this:

sudo pkg_add kdebase kdelibs kdeaddons kdeadmin kdegraphics \
kdemultimedia kdenetwork kdepim kdesdk kdeutils kde-i18n-ca

(in one line)

after you have definied PKG_PATH

Of course, choose the i18n of your choice (mine is -ca here)
