I think in this case, start with man arp.
arp = "a_ddress r_esolution p_rotocol". I wouldn't worry about this
unless the laptop is not able to communicate. Is there a wireless
network involved? Are you plugging in (or turning on and off) the
laptop? Using dhcp for the laptop?
