You are specifing the branch correctly, I usually add '-q' to have it keep quiet about files that didn't change.
The ? entries mean that CVS doesn't know about those files. They could be generated files in the source tree. Delete the files, cvs up, and see if they show up again. You can safely ignore them. For the cvs up command, the -rOPENBSD_4_0 is sticky. So you could drop it if you want. Keep in mind the -A option will clear all flags. Keeping the reference there is perfectly fine, and would serve as an obvious reminder which tree you are syncing from.
