The good news first:
After patching stable with the current bge,
I do receive packets, and dhclient gets a lease!
It creates a /var/db/dhclient.leases.bge0 with the
address I usually get from the thing our admin says
it's a dhcp server (another dell box running a crappy
m$ dhcp server)...
The bad news is:
ifconfig still lists this interface without ip4
configuration :-(
Killing dhclient and restarting it with
"dhclient bge0" doesn't help.
dhclient outputs it get a lease,
but it doesn't configure the interface...
Do I miss something here? Do I need to rebuild more
than just the kernel?
Or is there some other interface state
that needs to be reset?
My /etc/hostname.bge0 simply has one line:
dhcp
My /etc/dhclient.conf is as shipped, no changes.
