You also want to be sure to have listed "file" in /etc/resolv.conf Mine looks like: lookup file bind nameserver 192.168.1.1 <-- or whatever suits your situation. man 5 resolv.conf for other things you might need or want. I seem to recall dim memories of another file where that might be useful, too, but I can't think of it. Somebody else might. Maybe that's not on BSD. Hmmm.
