Hi,
Just installed a Netgear WG311 (v3) in my OpenBSD 4.2 box.
It connects just fine to an open wlan close to me
(one of the many)
But this is not my intended application...
I want to create a "computer-to-computer"
net to a Mac with built-in Airport.
(The Airport is also capable connecting
to the open nets, so I assume also this hw is ok)
The contents of my /etc/hostname.malo0 looks something like
inet 172.16.0.1 255.255.0.0 172.16.255.255 mode 11g nwid "myid" chan 9
And I've created a Computer-To-Computer connection
on the Mac, also using channel 9, on network "myid".
Both sides seem to report a configured NIC,
but no usable connection, whatever I fiddle.
Found that the Airport tries to use WEP by default,
so I've set the security to "none".
The distance between the NICs is only at most 10m,
and no concrete walls, or other radio obstacles, AFAIK.
So, what I'm doing wrong?
Or should I manually select a link speed,
or use 'monitor' mode since no AP is involved?
(I'm a total wireless n00b)
