Hi there,
first of all, you know that everyone is encouraged to use the
pre-compiled binary packages?
Please read: http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq15.html#PkgVsPorts
If you are using ports because you need an application that can't be
provided as a binary package, please read this:
http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq15.html#Ports
Concerning updating ports from -release to -stable you want to read this:
http://www.openbsd.org/stable.html
and you will like this:
http://www.openbsd.org/anoncvs.html#EXAMPLE
please look at least at the lines following the sentence: "Here is how
someone using anoncvs regularly would update his source tree: [...]"
There is explained how to upgrade the ports.
Hope it helps;-)!

Hi,
For updating ports to stable I guess
#cd /usr/ports
#make update
is the way to go right?
I guess it will only update installed packages and not install new packages?
Thanks
