The module works with Perl 5.8 without any problems because Time::HiRes is part of Perl 5.8. Perl 5.6.1 needs an additional module. That's correct.

So we have a problem as I have a RH9 with Perl5.8 installed:

$ perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.0 built for i386-linux-thread-multi
(with 1 registered patch, see perl -V for more detail)

but I had no Time::HiRes installed module. This version is the installed
one from RedHat9.0A.

I only want to use it for debugging. If we release the software then we deactivate the switch and uncomment the module. I activated it in the CVS version to give everybody a chance to test the performance and to see the problems. 0.9.2 is a developer version today and so I can do such things. A hidden switch would be never used.

Ok, let's remember to get it off when building snapshots/releases.
