The global configure was created by simply calling autoconf (see global Makefile). I found three other relevant configures:

Max, can you give some infos how you create these configures?
It looks like the global Makefile doesn't take care about the other configures. Perhaps we should add some code for the tools like aclocal, autoconf, automake and autoheader. Also we should remove the configure target to avoid timestamp problems with release. I think a make target autofiles would be a nice idea.
