Arch is much better, not only can you create branches, but it is possible to create branches with read-only access to the main repository via its distributed design. Arch also keeps track of information like "is this branch up to date with respect to all the changes in this other branch?" A recent enhancement is that all modifications to a repository are GPG signed.
