I have no such problems. It simply works on my box. Do you have any other errors with the system? Did you test ldap.xml with "xmllint --format ldap.xml"? If you have an error in the XML file then this creates an error.

hmm xmllint does not bring up errors - so the object must be missing
maybe i just - reinstall it... and check if its working then

i had ldap disabled in config.xml for some first test
and then enabled it later... but this shouln't couse problems
