Thanks for the help, but it looks like OpenCA::PKCS7 doesn't have errval or errno subroutines, and the values inside seem to be undefined in any case.
This is with data that does not match what was signed.
The OpenCA::OpenSSL object also has errno and errval variables which are set to 'undef'.
Any thoughts?
