basicaly there are different perl-scripts/modules which do the wrapping and calling openssl commands, there is a kind of plugin-system so in future it may be possible to use other cryptobackends instead of openssl, but not for now... for example:
in src/modules there are things you may have look into, especially into openca-* files like openssl and x509 and so on...
I only have the OpenCA source and openCA guide 9.2.+ www.openca.org , and with those things I pretent to understand all the design of OpenCA in order to do an extension of this.
what do you want do extend? or what do you mean by extension?
