I am quite sure that nobody here will want to implement CMP, it's
just too twisted...

just for information, I am currently writing a client software module
that will take care of automatic certificate renewal. I will publish
some information within the next few days (look out for something
called CertMonitor).
The (GPL) code will be available about end of this month, I hope.
