Hi Max,

1. Good news.

Version 1.1.0a compiles and runs ok on FreeBSD
with OpenSSL 0.9.8 and 0.9.7 and looks much
nicer and simpler than previous versions.

For this you just have to edit file
"configure.in" as follows:

remove both instances of " -ldl" from this file
and rerun autoconf.

2. Bad news.

"libdl" could be pulled into BSD only as a part of
"linux compatibility" package. But the latter
works correct only on i386 architectures which is
yet another problem to solve.

If ver 1.1.0a would not compile on Linux without libdl,
then it could be a good idea to teach "configure" script
to find out which type of UNIX it runs on,
and which libs are available with the system.

3. Thinking points.

Stable branch of OpenCA is in fact Linux-loving.
Still it is possible to force installation of the whole
system on BSDs (both on i386-likes and on non-i386)
without manual editing of the sources.
Say, several people (me including) contributed
different HOWTOs about BSD aspects of OpenCA, but nobody
offered edit of sources.

Given that it would be a pity to move ver. 1.1.0a in its
present state into the stable branch of OpenCA, as it would
violate the level of portability presently achieved in the
stable branch. Maybe, as a temporal solution, it could be
possible to take OCSPD (old ver.0.5.1) away from the stable branch, and distribute new ver.1.1.0a as a separate add-on?

All the best, Sergei

Hi Guys,

I just have the new version of the package running, and finally it seems
I have been able to fix a few things:
* linking against OpenSSL 0.9.8a libs
* Solaris variable initialization (fix core dump)
* Solaris (VERY STRANGE) behaviour with signal handling when reloading
  CRLs
* HTTP (WORKING!) support for CRL and CA cert downloading

Please can you debug (run) this version of the server and let me know
if you find major bugs or problems ?
I'd really like to have infos on (if you can):
* Solaris 10 / OpenSolaris / Solaris
* BSD based OSes

Let me know,
Bye!
