Hi,we (OpenXPKI) use OpenCA's SCEP program as a standalone program too. Actually I prepare packages for all components. The problem is that I do not want to publish OpenCA packages if the sources for the packaging and especially the code is not hosted at OpenCA's infrastructure. This makes no real sense from my point of view.
I want to create a new directory openca-scep in the root directory of OpenCA CVS repository. The code base would be the original 0.9.2 branch. I have a bug fix too which must be commited (the fix is not critical). The background is that new branches inside of the openca-0.9 directory would create a lot of confusion. I think Max has the same problem with the OCSPD. Perhaps it is time to push the binary programs back into its own top level directories. It looks for me like my old idea to put all the binary programs into the openca-0.9 source tree was not such a good idea.
So as it was my mistake I'm willing to fix it. Max, if you want that I update openca-ocspd at the top level directory too then I will do this.
Another question is which version number should be used to start with. We use the tool for months in a production environment (with OpenCA 0.9.2.5). Several other users use the tool in a production environment too. So it looks quite stable for me and I would start with 1.0.0 version which would be the original source from the openca_0_9_2 branch. The first patch would be commited as 1.0.1. I would introduce the branch tag openca_scep_1_0 and the symbolic tags openca_scep_1_0_0 and openca_scep_1_0_1. This would be the same naming scheme like for all other OpenCA tags too.
The sub directories would be: openca-scep source --> here comes the original stuff from openca 0.9.2 package --> here I would place all the informations for packaging debian/ rpm/Max, should I setup a new download package (like for the OCSPD) for the SCEP tool too? The actual sourceforge interface looks quite clean.
