I read ftp://ftp.openca.org/pub/openca/developers/bell/snapshots/CHANGES again and see that 0.9.0-2 was the last snapshot which don't set the subjectAlternativeName by default to the emailaddress. You must edit every CSR and set the subject alternative name by hand in pre0.9-RC3.
