The value is only displayed to show you what is the value in the
certificate. The code cannot know what the serial is before the
generation of the certificate starts. If you issue a certificate then
the DN contains of course the correct serial of the certificate.

P.S. openssl has a bug actually so that the DN displayed by OpenSSL is
SN=cert'serial, cn=.... The certificate itself is correct.
