I think I understand what you are doing. Some time ago we have serious problems with Perl 5.8. So you installed 5.6.1 but the new pre-0.9.1-rc7 supports perl 5.8. So you can use a clean distribution and then you should have no problems with the paths of the perlmodules.

DB_File.pm is the perlmodule for the DBM-Files. The module is normally part of the perl-package (e.g. SuSE 7.3 perl-5.6.1-41).
