well, I don't use any distribution package; I installed OpenCA from sources. But I don't have 'configure_etc.sh' in my openca src tree ( I
months, and a normal backup (an 'everyday' backup), saving only database, var and ldap?
The full backup is useful for desaster recovery - so you have a backup of the installed software: the one you are sure it worked before the disaster.
In most cases you should only - on regular basis (!!!) - backup the DB.
