first 20031219 is little bit outdated snapshot. Second please don't try a snapshot if you are not familiar with OpenCA.

Looks like a Solaris specific problem. Are you using gmake or the Solaris make? I tested it some minutes ago on a Solaris 5.8 without any problems but this Solaris is installed with all GNU utils.
