Ok...apparently my overall setting cause some conflict. As I said in my first posting:
I install
on one machine but in two different sets of directories, one
tagged "offline" (the ca; installed with make install-offline)
and one tagged "online" (pub and ra; installed with
make install-online).
Thats all great..but I only configured ONE exec-Prefix, so both installs aparently dont really agree about to whom all the executables /usr/local/bin/openca-* belong...
Have to look into this first a bit deeper to be sure though.
Regards and thanks Michael

Hi Michael,
I took the configuration section "1. the node acts as CA only". I left everything unchanged, so the first entry remained:
<option> <name>enroll_ca_certificate_states</name> <value>VALID</value> </option>
Hmmmm....*DENK***...thanks so far!
Regards Michael

When I am watching the var/db directory, right at the moment when I hit the "Export Configuration" link under "CA->Initialization->Final Setup->Export Configuration" there appear two database files named
@[EMAIL PROTECTED] @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Those two files seem to be the cause of my above mentioned problems with dataexchange. Somehow it looks as if there was a wrong replacement somewhere in the setup process..or?
Do you activated one of the dataexchange configurations in config.xml? @enroll_ca_certificate_states@ will be replaced by configure_etc.sh on base of the values in config.xml. @enroll_ca_certificate_states@ itself is placed in node.conf and ca.conf. If they are not replaced then the option enroll_ca_certificate_states was not defined in config.xml.
Does this be correct?
