looks to me that your debian is nothing more than just good old woody.
same problems were here.
consider dist-upgrading to sarge (it has newer perl which makes all the
troubles go away).

with woody i had to install some modules by hand and yet not all worked
fine. with sarge installing works just like described in openca install
docs.
