with these gaps and so it writes "unknown", OpenSSL balks at this line
in the file and fails. deleting these "UNKNOWN" lines fixes the problem.
uhh - how ugly... one chould mention this somewhere in big letters
for the 0.9.1.8 versions! or change the code...
