does your browser have a valid zertifikate to use for signing?
it looks like you can't even select a certificate to use for signing, so
there may be no certificate available to use for

the root-cert for the to be used certificat must have the right to
assure e-mail certs - otherwise mozilla/firefox can't use it to sign
messages ;)
