You probably misconfigured OpenCA during installation. Make sure that you used the correct user and group for your webserver.

I using the default configuration for the installation.

You should specify a user the webserver will use to access configs
and data on your server. My suggestion is to create a user and a group
for the webserver (apache.apache -- or whatever you like best) and
then configure and install openca by using that user:

        --with-httpd-user=apache
        --with-httpd-group=apache

that should solve your problem.
