I would place this question a little bit broader:
which external (not just perl) modules are needed for OpenCA?
I described the solution for FreeBSD at
http://demo2.openca.info/rus/my-README.freebsd.html
But it sure has sense for other Unixes.
I would understand the main reason, why OpenCA ships with
external modules, as a fear of OpenCA's incompatibility with
newer versions of these modules. But thanks to Julia, in
release 0.9.2.5 this fear should go.
Version 0.9.2.5 is fully compatible with the latest stable
versions of all external modules needed by OpenCA.
So, I would suggest to "configure" OpenCA with option
"--disable-external-modules" and install the latest stable
versions of the following
ports/packages using port/package system suitable for
definite base system: Redhat, Debian, FreBSD etc
(I am using FreeBSD names. Other systems may have
them slightly different):
openssl-0.9.8
apache-modssl
bash
bash-completion
coreutils
gmake
autoconf259
p5-Authen-SASL
p5-CGI-Session
p5-MIME-Base64
p5-Convert-ASN1
p5-Digest-HMAC
p5-Digest-MD5
p5-Digest-SHA1
p5-Locale-libintl
p5-IO-Socket-SSL
p5-IO-stringy
p5-MIME-Lite
p5-MIME-Tools
p5-Mail-Tools
p5-Net-Server
p5-URI
p5-perl-ldap
p5-Parse-RecDescent
p5-X500-DN
p5-XML-Twig
ALL OTHER ports/packages which are needed by listed
above (including perl itself)
SHOULD be installed automatically as recursive
dependencies.
If you make it accurately, there should be absolutely
no problems and inconsistencies among ports/packages.
If you do have problems here - you had better go
and read your base system manuals about how to
administer your system. OpenCA should not be blamed for
the lack of your administrative skills.
Also, keeping 3rd party modules in the distribution is
a mauvais ton in opensource world.
SUMMARIZING: Let us remove external modules from the
OpenCA distribution altogether. Instead, short lists
of needed external modules
(the one for FreeBSD is already available at ref above)
should be offered to those
who are clever enough to run a UNIX server.
What do you think?
All the best, Sergei

Dear all,
Did anyone know how many perl module needed in installing OpenCA
0.9.2.4+?
Though I traced the error msg while installing openca and installed every
module one by one, but I really want to understand the whole module
dependency. Sometimes the
module provided by openca itself can't satisfy all the necessary file and
version, or perhaps it just my misunderstanding.
Sincerely,
